Our standard

The site is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. It also follows the German Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung (BITV 2.0) and EN 301 549 where they apply to a private club website.

What that means in practice

• Every page works with a keyboard alone: menus, the search dialog, the photo viewer and the map all open, close and navigate without a mouse. A visible 3-pixel focus ring shows where you are.
• Text meets the 4.5:1 contrast ratio in both the light and the dark theme, and the theme follows your device setting or the toggle in the header.
• Tap targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels; primary buttons are 48 pixels.
• Pages are readable at 400 percent zoom and on a 320-pixel-wide screen without sideways scrolling.
• Photographs carry text descriptions; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
• Motion is reduced when your device asks for it, including the footer's rotating honours and the photo viewer.
• Headings, landmarks, tables and forms are labelled so screen readers can move through a page quickly.
• Calendar feeds, the Atom news feed and every page's structured data mean the schedule can be read outside the browser too.

How we check

Every build runs an automated audit with axe-core against every page in both themes at phone width, including checks for horizontal overflow and tap-target size, and a Lighthouse accessibility audit on key pages. A build that fails these checks is not published. The style guide documents the colours, type scale and components the checks rely on.

Known limitations

• The interactive map (OpenStreetMap tiles in Leaflet) is a visual aid. Every venue also has its address in text and a directions link.
• The machine translation offered through Google Translate may produce imperfect German; the English text is the reference version.
• Content embedded from Facebook and YouTube is subject to those services' own accessibility.
• Photographs in the galleries are described briefly; detailed descriptions are added when a photographer supplies them.
